projects in bloom

Over the last year I've planted so many seeds that are finally coming to fruition. This post is going to be all about the projects I've been working on, an exciting new partnership, as well as a teaser into some upcoming work that I can't share just quite yet.

save da sea

Back in January of 2024 I created some spec images of Save da Sea's carrot lox because it's a product I genuinely love so I wanted to showcase it in all its glory. My images caught the attention of Save da Sea's founder, Aki Kaltenbach, and she asked to licence the image for social media. Fast forward a few months later and Aki reached out to me again because she was launching 2 new products and she needed images for the product packaging. I was 100% on board. I met with Aki to discuss her goals for the project and how she wanted the product to be portrayed. This led to me styling, photographing, and retouching 2 images, all with Aki remotely approving the images (she's in BC, I'm in Toronto). You can now find both the carrot lox spread and the plant-based tuna spread on store shelves.

branding and buzzing

A new client for this year is Branding and Buzzing Agency. They're a local outfit with clients primarily in the food and beverage industries. They contacted me for a stop-motion project for social and that's grown into multiple projects for their Clients, Conestoga Farms, and Washington Apples. It's been such a pleasure working with Ruby and Marian and the rest of the team. They're creative, communicative, reliable, and professional. Above you can see the poached egg avocado toast image I created for Conestoga Farms' Easter Campaign and below you'll see 3 of my favourite stop-motion creations.

Owais rafique agency

This Spring I made the very exciting decision to join Owais Rafique Agency on contract. Owais has been in the photography industry for so many years and has shifted his focus to luxury hospitality photography, including clients like St. Regis Hotel, Marriott Hotels, and W Hotel to name a few. I've been a long-time admirer of his work so when he said he was looking for a food photographer to join the team I jumped at the chance. This partnership has been ideal because ORA's clientele is so different from mine that I've been able to grow a whole new skillset working in faster paced restaurant and hotel environments, on photoshoots involving models and many other moving parts. product forward

As much as I love shooting food, there's also a special place in my heart for product photography. Prospective clients have been asking me to see product work more and more, and because I don't have a ton in my portfolio, I decided to do a spec shoot for Canadian company Crate 61 Organics to show what I can create for brands in the beauty, health, and wellness spaces. A spec shoot is basically a photoshoot that I creative direct and produce to show a company what their brand could look like portrayed a certain way. For this shoot I opted for bright and colourful simplicity featuring hard shadows and showcasing the ingredients inside the natural, organic, hand-crafted soaps .

What's next?

I still have a lot of work that I can't share yet, so stay tuned for that. In the meantime, I can tell you that I worked on a project with US company Cook Unity and Canadian company Cookin, who they recently acquired. It involved 5 days of intense work, including flying in a team from NYC and bringing in a bunch of Toronto chefs. The project was so much fun and I can't wait for you to see the finished product!
